Poppet - Traditional Voodoo Doll (Female)
Poppet - Traditional Voodoo Doll (Female)
This Poppet, displayed in a small glass case for safety, was confiscated during the investigation of a suspected witch in the early 1800's. Poppets, more commonly known as "Voodoo Dolls" have been used for centuries on the premise of magical association. It is believed that objects that resemble other objects or people inherently possess power over their associated object. Commonly constructed of wood, fabric, moss & sinew, Poppets were linked to a target using a personal item such as a scrap of fabric, hair, tooth, or even nail clippings.
